Yes, now you can share your live location to your friends & family. This can be very helpful for anybody who want to be assure where you are. Although the feature will be available for one hour. A person can share his or her location in a private message or in a group conversation. You can also turn it off whenever you like. The option is available in iOS & Android phones all over the world.

According to Selena Wang, Product Manager at Messenger , “Live Location is helpful when trying to coordinate with friends, telling people how close you are when you’re on your way to an appointment, or even sharing where you are with your roommate when you’re on your way home at night.”
The location sharing feature was introduced in 2015 by Facebook. But there were some problem in it. The sharing of location is for public. This could be a useful tool for anti-social people. Now in 2017, the feature is re-introduced by the Facebook with some reforms. Now the location is shared privately in the groups & chats.
How to use messenger live location sharing
To use live location sharing on Messenger you need to follow the given steps.
- Open a conversation & click on the location icon. Now click on the three horizontal tabs in the messenger.
- Now a map will be shown to you and your current location will be shown to you. Click on a blue bar to share your live location.
- Now your live location sharing will be ON fro one hour. You will also be informed about the expected time taken by car to complete the journey.
- Besides this a timer will also run that shows how much time is left for the sharing. You can turn OFF the sharing at any point of time.
As I have told you about two features of location sharing i.e. static & live sharing. You can also share a point of a map location. This can also be helpful when you want to get picked by someone.
